Today’s Product Shoot
Today’s product shoot welcomed Paul and Jim from www.inkifi.com, a Manchester based company that specialise in printing and framing photos straight from you phone. Paul and Jims ethos is to enable people to print quality and affordable prints that are also eco friendly at the click of a button. They are very passionate about their work and believe in the beauty of ‘your images tell a story’. Having your photographs printed allows you to share and remember this story with the people that are closest to you. We believe that this is a beautiful and age-old ritual that has more relevance today than ever before. That’s why we love ‘doing what we are doing’.
Paul and Jim requested a high end product shoot to improve brand awareness and to take their photo printing business to the next level. I must say that I was very impressed with the quality of the products they brought to us and will myself be introducing some of them into our product range, more specifically the polaroid style thank you cards which will be a perfect match to our wedding photography packages.
First things first, I discussed with Paul exactly what he wanted, going over some examples and ideas of various backgrounds and lighting styles we use on high end product shoots. He wanted a mixture of creative studio product shots and promotional lifestyle shots with various room sets. Once we had gathered enough ideas and inspiration . . . the real work commenced!
The Room Sets
We spent most of the day developing different lifestyle settings for the premium products. The shots were to be used for promotional purposes on different platforms such as social media and their own website so the images needed to be spot on. From different print styles to types of frames, each requiring different lighting and different room set backgrounds – it was a serious challenge! Here’s a handful of the finished room set imagery we produced for them:
The Products
As well as creating the room set images during the product shoot, we were also asked to create some imaginative product shots. Each product required several unique shots designing – from simple product photos on a plain white background, to creative collages and lifestyle shots using models. With product shoots, a lot of it is about making a great composition with the subjects and materials you have and orchestrating them into the most creative positions. Even something that looks like its been thrown together randomly has probably been carefully placed in that position, to create a specific shadow or to enhance a particular feature of that product.
Behind the Scenes
Here’s a couple of behind the scenes shots of some of our set-ups. Although we don’t want to give away all of our secrets now do we 🙂
We absolutely love shooting products! There’s nothing else we’d rather be doing. It can be a serious challenge to keep the creative ideas flowing but with a little forward planning and imagination, anything is possible! If you have a photography project you’d like to talk to us about or you’d like to book your own product shoot
